Sandra Koelle

For Sandra, HerStance is the culmination of a lifelong mission. Her passion for women’s rights and standing up for the marginalized began early, leading service projects as a youth and feeling the challenges of being a young woman in the late 70s and 80s. This drive led her to earn a BA in Women's Studies from Penn State and an MBA. Professionally, Sandra has dedicated her career to service, leveraging her skills as a healthcare program manager and a highly successful fundraiser for mission-driven non-profits and universities. Now, as the host of HerStance, she merges her academic foundation and professional acumen with her deepest passion: ensuring the stories of revolutionary women are never forgotten, inspiring every listener to take their next move for a more equitable world.

What We’re About

The core mission of HerStance—to redefine history and fuel contemporary change—is brought to life through a powerful, actionable cycle of discovery and impact.

The Redefinition: Reclaiming Her Story

Every two weeks, the HerStance podcast spotlights an incredible woman, often one whose profound contributions have been obscured or entirely written out of history. We don't just tell her story; we recredit her impact, connecting her historical resilience and vision to the critical issues women face today. This is the foundation: recognizing that the path to an equitable future is paved with the legacies of those who came before us.

The Invitation: The HerStance Challenge

We believe history is not just for reflection—it's a catalyst for action. Inspired by the courage and ingenuity of our featured trailblazer, every episode concludes with the HerStance Challenge. This is your actionable invitation to engage with your community and discover your own potential.

These challenges are designed to:

  • Lift Others Up: Engage in ways to support women and allies around you.

  • Create Energy: Focus attention on critical issues like health, education, and safety.

  • Build the Movement: Bring new voices and perspectives into the effort for equality.

  • Increase Potential: Grow your own knowledge, skills, or capacity for change.

The Tools for Change

To further empower the next generation, HerStance provides dedicated tools, including our upcoming journal and digital products geared toward teens and tweens. We equip women of all ages—from our listeners aged 20+ to the young leaders of tomorrow—with the resources they need to build upon their foremothers' legacies and take "Your Next Move."

Intersectionality Worksheet
$2.00

It’s not enough to think about women’s rights or women’s issues from just one lens. We all come to issue from multiple perspectives. Caucasian, single mom, from the South. Or affluent black woman with a family living in the suburbs or Chicago. What about the Latina grandmother raising her grandson in Texas? I could go on and on.

Let’s walk in others’ shoes when we look at the issues. What might that mean in the voting booth? This worksheet might help you think through where your intersectionalities are.
